  4. if you are performing complex plumbing work.

  18. Step 1 - The two main methods
  19. There are two main methods of bending pipes. One involves 
  20. inserting a spring into the pipe to prevent it forming a kink.
  21. The second involves using a pipe-bending machine. The choice
  22. of methods really depends on the size of the job.

  24. Step 2 - Using a spring
  25. Insert the spring well past the point where the pipe 
  26. is to be bent. Bend the pipe over your knee to slightly 
  27. more than the angle required. Gently ease the pipe back 
  28. to the required angle.

  30. Step 3 - Removing the spring
  31. Over-bending the pipe will make removal of the spring easier. 
  32. To remove it, insert a bar through the spring loop and give 
  33. a slight twist to reduce its diameter.

  35. Step 4 - Bending a pipe with a machine    
  36. Usually, the clamp supplied with the machine will handle both 
  37. common sizes of copper pipe - 15mm and 22mm. Place the pipe 
  38. against the semi-circular former. Insert the correct guide 
  39. block and squeeze the handles together until the required 
  40. angle is attained.
